HOP’s CommUNITY believes that struggling shouldn’t be a solo act, and asking for help shouldn’t feel like its own emergency. Resources for food, housing, employment, health, and child care already exist — what’s missing is a clear path through them. Through HopScotch, we help individuals and families identify what they need, connect with the right support, and take one doable next step at a time. We measure our work not in dollars raised but in needs met, referrals followed through, and families who move from surviving to stable to self-sufficient. Every HOP’s product — from our programs to the shirt on your back — carries the same belief: nobody should have to find their way alone.

Member testimonialWhen my children were very young, their father was killed because of a mistaken identity. The shock and grief were unimaginable. In a single moment, I lost my husband, my children lost their father, and the future we had planned as a family changed forever. HOP’s CommUNITY didn’t simply express sympathy and then disappear. They grieved alongside us, but they also immediately began helping me handle the responsibilities that could not be placed on hold. I still had children to care for, bills to pay, and a job I needed to keep. They helped provide childcare so I could remain employed and continue supporting my family. They connected us with food and other essential resources while we worked through the immediate financial and emotional impact of our loss. That childcare support continued until I found employment that allowed me to work from home and be present for my children. But their support didn’t end when the crisis passed. HOP’s CommUNITY continued walking alongside me as I rebuilt our lives. They helped me find resources that made it possible to purchase my first home, giving my children and me a safe, stable place of our own. They also encouraged me to recognize my abilities and build something for our future. With their continued guidance and support, I became a business owner. Today, I am financially independent, self-sufficient, and able to provide for my family.
